First, could you tell our readers about your company and your fields of activity?
At Çakır Melikoğlu Gears, we have been operating since 2000 in the fields of industrial module gear manufacturing, gearbox gears, gearbox repair, maintenance and overhaul, and machining. Since our inception, we have prioritized the principles of quality, trust, and timely delivery.
Today, with our production infrastructure, we provide custom gear solutions to numerous sectors, particularly automotive, iron and steel, power plants, cement, mining, machinery manufacturing, and heavy industry. In addition to producing standard products, we carry out custom manufacturing entirely in accordance with customer requests and technical drawings. This approach positions us not merely as a manufacturer, but as a solution partner.
What is your company’s primary area of expertise?
Our greatest expertise lies in the manufacturing of custom module gears and gearboxes that require high precision. We manufacture a wide variety of product groups, including spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, sprockets, worm gear sets, and planetary gearbox gears. Furthermore, we possess significant experience in the maintenance, overhaul, and remanufacturing processes of large-diameter gearbox gears. We offer our customers fast and reliable solutions, particularly for the recommissioning of large equipment operating in heavy industrial facilities.
Could you tell us about your machinery?
We view investment in technology as an indispensable part of our production operations. Our facilities are equipped with advanced machinery capable of handling various diameters and modules, including gear hobbing machines, gear shaping machines, CNC lathes, profile grinding machines, vertical lathes, CNC milling centers, and other machining equipment. With a machine park comprising approximately 17 units, we are capable of manufacturing gears with diameters ranging from 10 mm to 5,300 mm and modules up to 40. This capacity makes us a preferred partner for large-scale and specialized projects.
How is your approach to quality reflected in the production process?
Gear manufacturing involves working with tolerances far tighter than a millimeter. Consequently, quality is a process that must be managed at every stage of production, not just during the final inspection. We prioritize measurement, inspection, and process monitoring at every step of manufacturing. We operate in compliance with international quality management systems and focus on continuously enhancing customer satisfaction. We consider adhering to promised delivery schedules to be just as much a part of our corporate responsibility as delivering high-quality products.
What is the key factor that sets you apart in the industrial sector today?
Our most significant differentiator is our ability to manufacture products tailored to our customers’ specific needs. We deliver high-quality products—featuring gear models resistant to high tensile and stress forces—by conducting high-precision tests at every stage of production (such as gear crack testing, computerized stress analysis via ANSYS, gear hardness testing [HRC/HV], NDT reports [UT, MT], heat treatment and induction reports, etc.).
Each project demands unique engineering expertise, production planning, and solutions. We do not operate within standard molds; instead, we proceed by analyzing the specific requirements of our customers. Thanks to our experienced team and robust machinery, we can manage both small- and large-scale projects with the same level of precision.
How do you view the future of the gear manufacturing sector in Turkey?
Turkey is a country with strong manufacturing capabilities. The importance of domestic production has become increasingly recognized, especially in recent years. I believe that companies committed to high-quality manufacturing will strengthen their positions in both the domestic and export markets. Gear manufacturing is a field that demands advanced engineering expertise; therefore, companies that invest in know-how, experience, and technology will play a pivotal role in the future.
What are your goals for the upcoming period?
Our goal is to increase our production capacity and export volume while further strengthening our technological machinery infrastructure. Additionally, we aim to expand our presence in international markets and solidify our standing as a trusted manufacturer representing Turkish industry.
