Form Group of Companies Provides Meaningful Support to Future Engineers ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Bedi Korun Computer Laboratory Ready to Meet with Students

Form Group of Companies has opened a 50-computer laboratory for student use at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with the support of its subsidiary, Form MHI Air Conditioning Systems (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries). Named in honor of the late founder Bedi Korun, the laboratory was established as a new step in the company's commitment to contributing to education and the training of qualified engineers.

Form Group of Companies has added another initiative to its portfolio of social responsibility projects aimed at fostering the development of university students. Having recently opened a computer laboratory at the Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and an academic hall at the Faculty of Architecture, the Group has now launched a new computer laboratory at the ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Established with the support of Form MHI Air Conditioning Systems, the 50-computer facility honors the legacy of the late Bedi Korun at the ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The laboratory enhances students' access to the digital infrastructure required for their technical education.

Form Group of Companies Continues Its Educational Support at ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The opening ceremony, held on June 30, was attended by Form Group of Companies Chairperson Figen Korun, CEO Tunç Korun, and Board Member Özden Korun, alongside Zafer Sarı, Board Member and General Manager of Form MHI Air Conditioning Systems.

Representing Istanbul Technical University at the ceremony were Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata and the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Koç, İTÜ Foundation Secretary General Serdar Bilgi, İTÜ Foundation Board Member and Mechanical Engineer Güner Koçel (a 1959 graduate of the İTÜ Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), and numerous academics took part.
The ceremony began with a speech by Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Koç, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who highlighted the life and industry contributions of the late Bedi Korun. Following speeches by Tunç Korun, CEO of Form Group of Companies, and Figen Korun, Chairperson of the Board, the laboratory was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We Will Continue to Strengthen University-Industry Cooperation”

Stating that the laboratory represents long-term value for future engineers—going beyond merely being a physical educational space—Tunç Korun, CEO of Form Group of Companies, said: “We believe that this laboratory, established in memory of our founder, the late Bedi Korun, will add value to our students' education. We anticipate that the knowledge and experience gained here will contribute to our country's industry and technological development. As a company, one of our priorities is to support mechanical engineering education and help train the well-equipped, qualified engineers our sector needs. We view the strengthening of university-industry cooperation as a crucial step that enhances the quality of engineering education and boosts our country's manufacturing power.

This project holds a special significance for us for another reason as well. My father-in-law—the father of my beloved wife Özden Korun, whom we lost in 2024—was a 1958 graduate of the ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. We would also like to take this opportunity to commemorate the late Cahit Değer with respect and gratitude. I hope that the memories of these two esteemed figures, who dedicated their lives to production, hard work, and creating value, will serve as an inspiration to young aspiring engineers.”
