Saying that Turkey is an industrial country and that we do not have the luxury of giving up production, PLASFED President Ömer Karadeniz said, “The future of Turkey is in industry, in production.” Drawing attention to financial sustainability in terms of investors being able to see the future, Karadeniz stated that there can be no development without production. Karadeniz said that we are a society that knows how to produce very well and that Turkey can become a production base if the conditions are right.
Saying that as the awareness of a society that focuses on people and production is passed down from generation to generation, the industry will continue on its path by getting stronger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Plastic Industrialists Federation Ömer Karadeniz stated that the future of Turkey is in industry and production. Drawing attention to the importance of financial sustainability in terms of investors being able to see the future, Karadeniz stated that we are a society that knows how to produce very well and that Turkey can become a production base if the conditions are right. Pointing out the importance of financial sustainability in terms of investors being able to see the future, Karadeniz stated that there can be no development without production. Stating that the only way to increase our level of development is through production, Karadeniz said, “As is known, Türkiye is not an oil country right now.”
“Industrialists have difficulty accessing financing”
Karadeniz, who said that Turkish industrialists have difficulty finding sufficient support in terms of accessing financing, said, “Unfortunately, Turkish industrialists, who are experiencing capital shortages, have reached a point where they are reducing production. Our industry, especially the plastics sector, which is dependent on foreign sources for raw materials and wants to continue production and employment, expects support in terms of accessing financing. Today, many of our industrialists say that they have difficulty accessing financing and that they are unable to produce.”

“We do not have the luxury of giving up on production”
Stating that the way for our country to reach its medium and long-term goals is to mobilize for a qualified and value-added production life, the President of the umbrella organization PLASFED said, “We do not have the luxury of giving up on production and investment, regardless of the conditions of our country. We should focus on production and technology by using our limited financial resources in the most effective way.”
Karadeniz, who suggested that innovative products should be manufactured in order to provide higher added value in production and export, drew attention to the fact that a way should be found to reduce costs without compromising quality and that added value should be increased. Noting that production should be carried out at European standards and in compliance with the environment in order for the sector to increase its competitive production and export opportunities in global markets without compromising quality, Karadeniz stated that the greatest power of the Turkish industrialist is production.
Karadeniz, who stated that the Turkish industrialist, who has the ability to write new stories under all conditions, makes great sacrifices while carrying out production, emphasized that this situation is not sustainable.
Manufacturing industry is weakening
Karadeniz, who said that the February 2025 PMI data of the Turkish manufacturing sector remained below the threshold value of 48.3 and 50, indicating a contraction in the sector, stated that this decline in the manufacturing industry was concerning. Karadeniz, who emphasized that the PMI data, which has been continuously below the threshold value for exactly 11 months, is a result of the situation that the industrialists are in, said, “As we always say, there can be no development without production. We expect all policies that focus on production to be put into effect so that the industry can continue on its path by strengthening.”
