FANUC ROBODRILL paves the way for high efficiency and profit in production

ANUC’s models ROBODRILL α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 and ROBODRILL α-D28MiB5ADV Plus, which were introduced to Turkish industrialists this year, raise the quality of production in the processing of large parts. Thus, businesses that achieve high efficiency in production reach competitive profits and create resources for their new investments.

Japan-based FANUC, a world leader with the innovations it brings to factory automation, continues to advance the latest technology while increasing productivity thanks to the versatility, high accuracy and robust structure of the ROBODRILL vertical processing machine with unrivaled efficiency. FANUC, which has made improvements to adapt to tomorrow’s technology on the ROBODRILL vertical processing machine, which has a fully equipped system for efficient high-speed CNC processing, also brings the automotive industry together with current technology with ROBODRILL α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 and ROBODRILL α-D28MiB5ADV Plus. The α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 features an extended 500 mm Y-axis so customers can apply ROBODRILL’s superior precision and speed to larger components. The α-D28MiB5ADV Plus, while retaining the standard 400 mm Y-axis, features a number of upgrades shared with the ADV Plus Y500, including a larger 28-station automatic tool changer (ATC) and FANUC’s latest 31i-B5 Plus control.

Extended table depth of 500 mm to accommodate large fixtures

With a larger table capable of carrying loads of up to 400 kg, the new ROBODRILL α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 features a 500 mm Y-axis to accommodate a range of large components common in industries such as automotive, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. With an extended table depth of 500 mm to accommodate larger fixtures, it is also ideal for parts such as electric vehicle battery cases and inverter cases. Offering unrivalled versatility, the latest model offers higher rapid traverse speeds (up to 60 m/min) and acceleration (2.2 G) on the Z-axis, helping to reduce cycle times in drilling and tapping operations.

Tool change speed of just 0.7 seconds

Another innovation is the addition of a 28-station ATC (up from 21 as standard), which can carry a total tool weight of up to 46 kg and offers a rapid tool change speed of 0.7 seconds (tool to tool). Greater tool availability allows users to tackle a wider range of machining tasks involving larger workpieces, while rapid tool changes drive productivity gains, a vital metric in the high-volume automotive arena.

Featuring FANUC’s latest 31i-B5 Plus control

Another new model in the series, the ROBODRILL α-D28MiB5ADV Plus, does not have an extended Y-axis, but it does have a 28-station ATC and a maximum table load of 400 kg, as well as FANUC’s latest 31i-B5 Plus control for multi-axis, high-speed, high-precision machining. In terms of connectivity, both models support all major industrial communication protocols to give customers access to the many benefits of real-time production monitoring and data analysis. All the usual FANUC options regarding spindle speed (up to 24,000 rpm) and number of axes (3, 4 or 5) are available on both new models, thanks to high-performance rotary tables and trunnion units. In addition, the easy, one-cable connection between robot and machine makes it possible to make any ROBODRILL investment possible through the comprehensive portfolio of industrial robots and cobots.
