Maxxen aims to become a global power in energy storage with Hithium, one of China’s leading manufacturers of energy storage products.
Kontek Enerji, one of the engineering companies in the renewable energy sector, launched Maxxen Energy, which will offer reliable and efficient solutions in the field of battery storage technologies. The company, which was established with an investment of 25 million dollars and will become operational in 2025, created an energy bridge between the two countries by making a special strategic partnership agreement with Hithium Energy, one of China’s leading manufacturers of energy storage. Maxxen Energy, which will store the energy of the future in Turkey, will produce 10 GWh of energy storage equipment in the next 5 years.
Kontek Energy, which operates in the fields of energy efficiency, automation and renewable energy, has expanded its targets on a local and global scale on the 30th anniversary of its establishment. The company first launched Maxxen Energy, its subsidiary in the field of battery energy storage technologies production, in an area of 10 thousand square meters in Aydın Ortaklar Industrial Zone, with an investment of 25 million dollars. Then, the company determined its global targets with this new investment; It signed a strategic partnership agreement with Hithium Energy, one of China’s top seven battery manufacturers in the world. With the strategic partnership, it is aimed to create more sustainable energy systems globally and locally and to make Turkey a global power in the field of energy storage.
“We are starting a new era in the renewable energy sector”
Kontek Energy CEO Tolga Murat Özdemir said that they aim to start a new era in the field of renewable energy by transferring Kontek Energy’s 30 years of knowledge and experience in the sector to the energy storage field with the Maxxen brand; He evaluated the sector and said the following about his new investments:
“Energy need is one of the topics we will talk about most on a global basis in the coming years. According to our 2035 national action plan; In Turkey, our solar energy capacity is aimed to reach 53 GW and our wind energy capacity to 30 GW. While making our investments to achieve this goal, we also prioritize the ability to use the energy produced through energy storage technologies more sustainably and efficiently. “In this sense, it is important to grow our industry and meet the energy that will arise from renewable sources based on storage systems,” he said.
“We will shape the future of the energy sector with storage”
Tolga Murat Özdemir said that they are proud of carrying out projects that make a difference in the energy sector for 30 years and continued his words as follows:
’’With the technologies we provide, we make the lives of users easier and meet their energy needs with high performance, while preserving the economic balance and resources of the natural environment. We play an important role in reducing environmental impacts with sustainable and value-added projects all over Turkey. As of the first quarter of 2024, we see that our total electricity generation installed capacity in Turkey is 106,334 MWe, consisting of 14,000 MWe from SPPs and 12,000 MWe from RES. As Kontek Enerji, we aim to contribute to the installation of a 300 MWp solar power plant in 2024, together with our Solar Alliance partner, so that Turkey can reach its net zero emission target. “With our new investment, Maxxen Energy, which will be operational in 2025, we aim to make Turkey a global power in energy storage technologies, which is one of the most important ways to reduce the carbon footprint and is seen as the guarantee of increasing the number of solar power plants and wind turbines in our country,” he said.
Stating that they will increase their competitiveness in the market with the strategic partnership they established with Hithium, Tolga Murat Özdemir emphasized that they will shape the future of the energy sector with storage.
The new factory will have an annual production capacity of 3 GWh
Stating that they will offer innovation and added value to the sector by combining the success they have achieved in solar energy projects with energy storage technologies, thanks to the energy storage systems produced by Kontek Energy with quality assurance, Kontek Energy CBDO Ayhan Şahin shared the following details about the new investment: We are building the energy storage systems production factory Maxxen Energy on an area of 10 thousand square meters in Aydın Ortaklar Organized Industrial Zone. Our production facility; It was designed as a smart building that includes technologies such as rainwater harvesting, process waste recycling, roof solar solar system and greenhouse area. The exterior of our building, whose exterior appearance is designed in parallel with the technology of the future, will be covered with solar glass and will operate as a carbon neutral building. When the production facility, which will have an annual production capacity of 3 GWh, becomes operational, we will increase our company employment by approximately 100 percent.“With our factory, we will offer solutions in the field of energy storage technologies to use energy more sustainably and efficiently,” he said.
“This partnership will reshape the energy sector”
Making a statement about their collaboration with Hithium Energy, one of the leading manufacturers of energy storage products, Ayhan Şahin said: “We are extremely happy to join forces with a world-leading company like Hithium. This strategic partnership represents an important step towards a cleaner future. In continuation of this agreement, we will strive together to achieve groundbreaking innovations in the field of sustainable energy. We aim to make significant contributions to the worldwide energy transformation by accelerating the spread of battery energy storage technologies to large masses. “In the coming period, we will all see how important contributions this partnership will make to our country’s energy sector in the field of energy storage technologies.”
China and Türkiye together in energy transition
Sean Sunming Huang, Founder of Hithium and General Manager of the MEA region, which is among the top five battery manufacturers in the world in terms of product shipments in 2023, according to China Energy Storage Association data, said the following on the subject; “We attach great importance to the Turkish market and the growth potential in the energy sector. With the strategic partnership agreement between Hithium and Maxxen, we will act together to create more sustainable energy systems both globally and locally and contribute to the worldwide energy transformation by accelerating the spread of battery energy storage technologies to wider audiences.
