Mitsubishi Electric’s new robot carries larger loads with longer range

Mitsubishi Electric introduced the MELFA RV-12CRL 6-axis robot to the market, offering a range of 1,504 mm and a payload of 12 kg. With its wide effective working area, the robot can be used in various sectors and processes such as food and beverage, automotive, lithium-ion battery production, logistics and warehousing. Users will also be able to benefit from the robot’s built-in functions that contribute to simplifying application, increasing safety and reducing downtime.

With its new and improved payload capacity and reach, Mitsubishi Electric’s new robot MELFA RV-12CRL can provide high flexibility and versatility in pick-and-drop applications as well as assembly applications. The RV-12CRL’s performance is also enhanced by its ability to operate at high speeds with its arm designed to accommodate high inertia and momentum. Thanks to this flexibility, the robot can support precise positioning, maintaining an accuracy of ±0.04 mm even when carrying heavy loads.

The six-axis MELFA RV-12CRL can also be equipped with MELFA SafePlus to offer extended safety functions. Thanks to this system, the robotic arm can limit speed, torque and range using sensors such as light curtains when it detects human workers nearby, and can operate without safety cages. The robot provides a significant advantage in flexible production environments, thanks to its ability to work safely in common areas without stopping when an employee approaches.

Mitsubishi Electric’s MELFA RV-12CRL robot, like other RV-CR series members, was designed to maximize reliability and service life to the technically possible level and aim to reduce the total cost of ownership. By eliminating the need for battery replacement or backup, MELFA RV-12CRL helps reduce robot maintenance costs and downtime. The use of next-generation servo motors with battery-free encoders also helps increase reliability, long service life and improve total cost of ownership.

Mitsubishi Electric EMEA Region Strategic Product Manager Oliver Giertz said that they offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for repeated transportation of large and heavy parts with the latest model MELFA RV-12CRL robot, which has innovative features and high performance.
